A brand that I really like would be Nvidia. They design computer graphic cards primarily. Why do I like them? Well I have been using Nvidia powered cards since 2012 and they have all given me fantastic performance in all of my computers. You could say I am a loyal customer.
How do they engage there audience? Well to start off they will launch a new card at some sort of large tech event. This will cause a lot of buzz which in turn makes people want to know more. From here they will allow people to review the card to consumers, usually done on YouTube. This gives most people that are thinking of buying the card a practical sense of what the card can do. From here, when people get there own cards after purchase they will usually tweet or post about it, providing, hopefully a positive range of customer feedback.
So based on the above we can see how it relates to the 3M model. The megaphone is the initial launch, to create a massive buzz. The magnet is the reviewer as people will look to them for advice on the card, this then draws them in more. Finally the consumer posts once purchased can be monitored to see how people are reacting to the card.
We can also see this in the types of media being used. The owned media would be the website that they have, and there launch video. The paid media would come down to the paid reviewers to keep the buzz alive and the earned media would be the consumer reviews and discussion after the fact.
